The Battle of Petrizzi Part 2
The battle of Petrizzi part 2.
The archers on the hill again fired into the Khorne warriors while Calarion, realising the dangers of his situation, turned and ran down the hill towards the ogre leadbelchers. The twins, Big Makh and Kortor Pounder, charged into the rallied marauders and Gamygyn again rather than the ranks of magically armoured chaos warriors. The dwarves tried to join the great combat that was about to start in the centre between the generals of both ogre forces, but the lacked the leg power and pulled up short. The giant stopped running and turned to face the chaos forces. Elesando Contti, who had been leading the small group of knights, left them to chase a group of warhounds that had broken though one of the gangs of the goblins the followed the ogres. Big Makh smashed Gamygyn into the ground, while Kortor crushed several marauders, and the rest scattered and fled, though not before they had mortally wounded the last irongut with their flails. The twins turned to face the leadbelchers from Hawk's band. Petapum charged into Hawk's bodyguard, bellowing a challenge, that was foolishly accepted by the unit champion, who was swiftly dispatched by a great blow from peatapum's monstrous great weapon.

On the right a great melee erupted with Captain Hawk and his unit and another 3 of his bulls fighting a number of Peatapum bulls, as well as the ogre himself, 5 knights Kunn Agrilzhuf and the few remaining swordsmen. Kunn was killed in a duel with Bob the standard bearer and Peatapum was knocked down by the iron guts. The remaining swordsmen fled and several bulls fell, but Captain Hawks, Bob and all his bull were wiped out.
The battle was now reaching its conclusion, Valac destroyed the knights as his warriors drove the remaining bulls from the field. The twins were beaten down by the Tzeench warriors, Elesando Contti duelled the Nurgle knights champion, but failing to get through the chaos armour turned and fled, outpacing his bloated opponents. The only unharmed defenders on the filed were the leadbelchers and Calarion who was hiding in the forest.
The attackers had not had it all their own way. Captain Hawk's company had been wiped out save for 3 bulls, the non-Tzeench sections of the chaos army had suffered terribly loosing the marauders, Khorne warriors and Gamygyn the sorcerer among others.
Elesando Contti entered the great hall still in his armour. He knew he would face many of the cities leaders and have to explain for this disaster. He was sure many would blame him even though in truth he had had little say in the days events. The ogres followed their own leaders orders, not his, and the village militia had already moved off before he had arrived.
Among the nobles Elesando could see Kagg Agrilzhuf and his black demeanor showed that the news about the death of Kunn was true. The only ogre present from the battle was one of the Bruisers, Big Mahk. Peatapum and the other of his lieutenants, Kortor, were rumored to have been captured while Gorr Dinramzy had been wounded. Calarion was also present, for which Elesando was grateful, as he could help make other understand the truth of the battle. The only other positive was that held in a tower outside of town, the sorcerer Gamygyn was bound in chains and watched over by guards. His fate, not just Elesando's would be decided at this meeting.
Captain Hawks was
not happy. He had broken his contract and joined the Chaos raiders
for the promise of great spoils, fully half of the loot. Instead he
had been given half of what could be taken from the already looted
village, exactly what was promised had said Valac. Hawks had been in
half a mind to eat him right then and there for the insult, but the
presence of the large dragon Bune had forced him to relent. Instead
he had come up with a cunning plan.
Peatapum and Kortor were
battered and bruised, held in heavy iron cages and barely conscious
when Hawks entered the camp. While no one was looking he took the
heavy iron key and tossed it at Peatapum. It bounced off his mighty
shoulders and landed near his belly. Peatapum's one good eye glared
out at Hawks and he then rolled over, covering the key with his
flabby grey flesh. Hawks smiled and lead the remainder of his boys
out of the camp and off to other adventures.
